Brandishing a sound rooted in ‘90s indie/alternative and often drawing favorable comparisons to Foo Fighters, Manchester Orchestra, and Afghan Whigs, King Of Denmark has attracted a loyal following by way of their go-for-broke live shows including a blistering set at WMNF’s Tropical Heatwave in 2016. With prior memberships in well-regarded Tampa Bay area outfits the likes of Spiller, 2nd Day Broadcast, and The Empty Spaces, the members of King of Denmark racked up impressive individual accomplishments prior to the band’s formation in 2015. European touring, gigs at vaunted venues like the Bowery Ballroom in NYC, well-received slots at 97X’s Next Big Thing, along with countless shows throughout Florida, served to make one thing clear to all concerned. More than anything, songwriting is the most important aspect of being a musician and with that in mind, crafting memorable and meaningful songs has been the priority for this three-guitar five-piece from day one.
Mastered by Alan Douches of West West Side Music (Brand New, Toro y Moi), the band’s debut self-produced album We Want It All garnered glowing reviews and was followed up in short order with an equally well-received EP, Looking Out On Nowhere. The band is currently in the studio recording another full-length LP.
With post punk, indie and Americana influences mixed in with touches of psychedelic classic rock, Kevin Earle and the Deluxe 12 is led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Kevin Earle Siebel backed up by drummer Keith Jones, guitarist Jonathan Clark, and Steve Menendez on bass and mandolin. The band’s material ranges from aggressive and noisy indie rock to quiet heartfelt folk, all with melancholy lyrics about daily observations and personal reflections on grief, loss, and accepting middle age.
Originally hailing from a small town on the Ohio River upstream from Pittsburgh, singer/songwriter Jamie McElman has called Florida home since the mid-‘80s. Raised on a musical diet of tunesmithery from the likes of James Taylor, Jackson Browne, CSN&Y, Dan Fogelberg, and Bruce Springsteen, McElman also counts The Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Jason Isbell, and Tom Petty as continuing touchstones. With lyrics both thoughtful and thought-provoking, McElman’s songcraft paints pictures as much as it tells stories. Longtime musical cohort Steve Prince contributes aural depth and color on electric and acoustic guitars.
